Dave, Part 2

Dave
I walked back to the Bryant Park subway station. The warm air hit my face as I walked out. I smiled. I was in such a good mood. There was something about talking to Dave that had brightened my day. And it was more than just having made a promising work deal, or having solved the problem I had created for myself when it came to my sister’s wedding. There was something about him specifically.

I had been surprised he had been so open to the idea of going to St. Thomas with me for my wedding. I was lucky that he had planned to be in New York for two more weeks anyway. His goal, to find an investor, was already reached. We had already talked through most of the specifics, though we were going to meet at my office in a few days to put the paperwork together.

As I stood on the platform, I could barely suppress a smile. What was going on? It was rare for me to feel so cheerful. I guess I just had a lot of fun being around Dave. And we hadn’t even had sex this time. At home, I texted my Mom that my plus one’s name was David Standen.

A few days later, Dave came to the office. I had asked Lore from the legal department to set up a contract. Janice made sure that the signing was made a big deal. A nice conference room was booked and she had chilled a bottle of champagne and prepared a tray of champagne glasses in the pantry. Even though Dave had already been sent the contract and had it looked over, I still wanted to make it into a moment, like I would do with any other signing.

Dave
Dave entered the office and looked impressed.
“Wow, this is a very pretty office!”, he said.
I was impressed as well, with how he looked. I had never seen him wear glasses before. And he wore a shirt and slacks, looking more formal than at his presentation. He had a small ribbon in rainbow colors on his chest.

Again, he came in for a hug. He smelled so good every time. After a short tour of the office, I guided Dave to the conference room. We went over the specifics of the deal as previously agreed upon. Once the signing was done, Janice entered with a tray of glasses of champagne. I gave a short speech.

Afterwards, I took Dave to my own office for a chat.
“Are you happy?”
“I am thrilled. I am also relieved. I really didn’t want to think about the possibility of this not working out, but it was always in the back of my mind.”
I smiled. He was so passionate.

We looked out of my office window, standing side by side enjoying the view of New York City. We each took a sip from our glass of champagne.
“It’s great that I can now do this for a living. I’ll just need to think about where I will want to be stationed."
This hadn’t even crossed my mind yet. With this initiative already a success in the UK, there just may be advantages to moving to the US, at least for some time.
“You are welcome to use facilities in this office if you want”, I said. “Between now and St. Thomas for starters, where you want to be after is up to you.”

Dave
There was a short silence in the room. It was the first time the wedding had gotten mentioned. Dave smiled at me. I smiled back before we both looked back at the view.
“So about that”, he started. “Now that we have this professional relationship… You’re sure you still want me as your date to your sister’s wedding?”
“Absolutely!”
“But there’s nothing romantic or sexual about it, I presume? That would be unprofessional now that we’re in business together.”

Dave had a point. Why hadn’t I thought of this? I had never mixed business with pleasure but with him it was like the two had become blurry. Probably because we had already had sex previously. And the way Dave had set up the meeting earlier this week.

“I mean, I’ll gladly still join you if you want me to. St. Thomas is a beautiful place. While we’re there, we can talk plan of attack for the first few months. But we can do that here too. So I understand if you’d rather take someone else. I’m sure you have options.”

I chuckled and looked down at my feet. I decided I had to come clean.
“You know what it is”, I started, looking to make sure my office door was closed. “My Mom was hounding me to finally bring a guy home and… I guess I panicked a little bit.”
Dave laughed.
“This is the most relatable thing!”, he said, continuing to laugh.
I couldn’t suppress a chuckle myself.
“You know what, you’re right. It would be a little awkward and unprofessional. You don’t have to come.”

He looked at me, with a by now familiar smirk.
“You know what, Mums do love me. I think I can help you out.”
“Really?”
“Yeah! It was part of the deal!”

Dave
So a week later I got on a plane to home to St. Thomas with Dave. He looked so cute with his dark blue long sleeve and a backpack as carry-on. Early this morning I had found him in the lobby of my apartment building as agreed. We had shared an Uber to Newark Airport.

Dave looked so good early in the morning. Looking at him made me smile. Now it was 7:50 AM and our four hour flight was about to depart. Dave looked happy and excited.

Usually I would have opened my laptop and got to work. It was a Thursday after all, my e-mail inbox likely overrunning as always. But this time, Dave and I talked.

He wanted to know the names of my Mom, my sister, and her fiancé. We decided we would say this was basically our third date after having met in London a year ago and reconnecting when Dave came to New York for business a little over a week ago. To me, this felt closer than the truth than it probably did to Dave.

“So to make everything slightly more believable, we can hold hands or do little touches on the arm, shoulder and back, right?”, Dave said.
“That sounds good.”
“Kissing won’t be necessary, right?”
“I-I doubt it.”
“Good. Let’s put the boundary there.”

I didn’t think Mom would appreciate public displays of affection particularly. Although I hadn’t lived there for over a decade, as far as I knew, homosexuality wasn’t that accepted in the Virgin Islands at all. So that made Dave’s job easier. Although I was realizing I was sad I wouldn’t be kissing him.

Justin
When we landed it was 11.45 AM. As is usual at the airport, there were free shots of rum, which definitely made Dave very happy. As we waited for our luggage, I suddenly felt his hand on my back.
“W-what are you doing?”, I asked.
“Practicing.”
I laughed.

We walked towards the Arrivals hall when Dave suddenly took his luggage into his left hand and used the other hand to hold mine. I was caught off-guard, but it felt good. I looked at him and smiled.
“Go ahead”, he said, gesturing to the sliding doors.
They opened and my Mom was the first person I saw.

She looked absolutely thrilled to see me. I let go of Dave’s hand as she ran up to hug me. She squeezed me tightly.
“So good to see you my baby”, she said through her tears.
As she let go, she was very keen to hug Dave as well.
“Oh David, I am so happy to see my son holding your hand. You are so very welcome here.”
“It is such a pleasure to meet you, Olivia.”

I felt like she hugged Dave for longer than she had hugged me. I knew she had been longing for me to bring someone home, I was realizing just how happy it was making her. Dave winked at me, as if to say, first part of the mission accomplished.

Mom couldn’t stop talking. She grabbed Dave’s arm on her way to the car. She asked him where he was from and what he did for a job, but mostly she talked to him about me. It became clear to me she was talking me up. It was refreshing, as usually she told me I was doing everything wrong.

She wanted him to sit in front of the car so he could take in the views of the island. She suddenly turned into a one-woman St. Thomas tourist board. She pointed out where things were, what there was to do, and even randomly pulled out a weather forecast.

Dave very politely engaged with her, asking her questions. He also mentioned he would love to go hiking while he was here, as well as swim in the ocean. She immediately pointed out the hillside and told him about the most romantic hikes for him and I to do together. When Dave noticed the water appearing on our right, she didn’t miss a beat either.
“This is Long Bay. You see Hassel Island. There’s the marina. Your resort is in that direction.”

My Mom works at Bolongo Bay beach resort. She plans and facilitates the destination weddings, so it made sense for Terina and Richard’s wedding to also be there. When she asked me if I wanted to stay at her place or have a room at the resort, I immediately chose the latter. When I come over for Christmas, I do stay at her house. But usually I’m slightly exhausted. And now Terina could sleep there the night before the wedding.

“You will have an ocean view room, very romantic, very private.”
My Mom was like my wingwoman. I had been to the resort before, as she had worked there for most of my life. But I had never stayed there. I was looking forward to swimming in that pool with the swim-up bar finally.

Once my Mom had finished her talk on Fort Christian, the 17th century fort that we passed, Dave’s hand reached back to touch my knee. He turned his ehad back to face me.
“You OK back there, babe.”
I smiled and nodded.
“Oh my Lord, aren’t you two adorable?”

The road got narrower. We had now entered the hills of Red Hook, the Eastern part of the island. Mom let us know about our itinerary.
“Tonight, dinner at my house. Tomorrow you are invited to Richard’s bachelor party. Saturday rehearsal dinner. Sunday wedding.”

Mom continued to talk about how romantic the weekend was going to be for us, and promised to give us privacy even when she was working.
“You two take some time to recover from your flight and just come over in the late afternoon, OK?”
She drove onto the parking lot and I smiled. I was happy to have a break from her talking as well, even though it had only been a 20 minute drive. She gave each of us a hug and repeated how happy she was that we were both here.

Dave and I walked to reception.
“Oh wow, it’s really quiet out here all of a sudden”, he said.
I laughed.

We checked in. Our room on the third floor was beautiful. The balcony overlooked the ocean.
“There’s only one bed”, Dave noticed.
“It’s, uhh.. It’s kingsize though.”
He chuckled.
“It’s fine. We’ll make it work.”

Dave
Dave was excited to try the pool. He quickly went to the bathroom to change. I changed into my swimming shorts in the room. When Dave exited the bathroom, he wore a striped Speedo. My mouth watered. I tried to continue looking him in the eye. But as he walked ahead of me towards the pool area, I did notice his buttocks straining the fabric with each step.

“It’s so beautiful here”, Dave said as we put our towels on a sunbed.
The pool looked out over the beach and the ocean.
“Thanks so much for bringing me along.”
“Thanks so much for being so game!”

Dave’s face lit up.
“Yeah, did I do well so far?”
“You did exceptionally well! My Mom already loves you!”
He smiled.

The dip in the pool was refreshing. Dave and I ordered a drink at the swim-up bar.
“This is the life!”, he said.
It was good to see him so happy.

Dave
As he showered off by the pool, and looked at the ocean view, I did give Dave a quick scan from top to bottom. His lightly hairy chest and six-pack abs I noticed first. I then saw the tattoo down his thick upper arm and the small tattoo by his hip. But I couldn’t help finally to look at his bulge. Now that the Speedo was wet, it was also clingier. Despite identifying as 100% bottom on his Grindr profile, I remembered Dave had a sizeable uncut dick. The memories of it being rock hard and bouncing up and down right in front of me as I laid down in the London hotel bed were more vivid than a few weeks ago.

We went back to the room to get changed for lunch. Dave disappeared into the bathroom again. He came out with just a towel wrapped around himself, before I was finished changing.
“Oh, sorry”, he said.
I did see his eyes go up and down my body. I covered my cock, but I knew he could still see some of it. Once I saw his body wrapped in the towel it began to grow, which meant there would be even more of it that my hands wouldn’t be able to cover.

Dave
“During lunch, could we map out a plan for QIGI for the first few months?”, Dave asked me.
He didn’t move. I lazily picked the towel up that was on the bed in front of me to cover myself better.
“Sure.”
I smiled at him. The sexual tension was thick. He smiled back.
“Cool.”
Dave bent over his suitcase and fished out a pair of briefs before disappearing into the bathroom again.

I was already wearing my shorts when he came out again, this time sporting a tight pair of white briefs. He didn’t even look my way. He pulled out a T-shirt and a pair of shorts and put them on. I put on a T-shirt myself and walked to the bathroom to check my hair. When I came out, Dave had a backwards cap on and was ready to go.

Dave was his cheerful self. The incident of him seeing me naked was not addressed. He talked about the menu, the lovely food, and we threw some ideas around to promote QIGI online as well as in the FitWorks locations. I did have some trouble focusing. Every time I looked at his handsome face across the table, all I could think about was his tight, muscular body in those white briefs.

Dave
I had so much fun. Even though it was technically a work meeting, there was a lot of laughter. We each told stories from our pasts and I got to know Dave a little better. There was something about him that made him fun to be around.

After lunch, I ordered a taxi at reception.
“So are you ready for my Mom to talk your ear off again?”, I asked Dave.
“Sure! Part of the deal. And she means well. She’s actually very sweet.”
I chuckled.
“Terina and Richard will be there as well, so the focus will hopefully mainly be on them.”

The taxi took us to Charlotte Amalie, the city that we drove through on our way to the airport, which is where my Mom lived. She was thrilled to see us, even though it had been less than five hours since she had last seen us.

I was reunited with my sister Terina, or Terry, and her fiancé Richard.
“Terry! The bride to be!”, I said when I hugged her.
I could tell she was happy to see me, but she was very interested in meeting Dave.

As we sat down on the balcony for drinks, Terry wanted to know all about Dave and how we had met. I put my arm around him as he patiently answered all of her questions. It felt good sitting close to him. As we told the story about how we met in London, I told the truth.
“Dave had seen my talk at the conference and then found me on a dating app. It was much later when he told me he was in the audience that day.”
“That is so romantic!”
Dave looked at me and winked. Our faces were so close together, it would have felt natural to kiss him. But then I remembered that we wouldn’t.

“It’s OK, you can give him a quick kiss”, Terry said.
I laughed and looked away and so did Dave.
“No, come on! I know PDA can be tough on you guys out here. No-one can see.”
“All right”, Dave said and before I knew it he had planted a quick peck on my lips.
I couldn’t help but chuckle as Terry cheered quietly.
“Yay! You two are just so cute together”, Terry said.
Richard looked mighty uncomfortable.

There was something odd about how intense it was to get a kiss from Dave, even though we had fucked quite extensively a year ago. He seemed so unattainable all of a sudden, so to get a kiss kind of made my stomach feel fluttery. I wondered what that really meant.

“Babe, do you want another beer?”, I asked Dave casually.
“Oh great, thanks!”
It turned out Terry and Richard also wanted fresh drinks.
“I’ll help you!”, my sister offered.

In the kitchen we found Mom.
“That smells so good already!”
I opened the fridge.
“You two!”, my Mom said, “Stir this. I need to get something from the pantry!”

She walked off. Terry stirred the pot as I took out some beers and refilled some wine glasses.
“Dave is so sweet”, Terry said, looking back at me. “And you are so in love with him! You need to convince him to stay in New York!”
“I… I’m not sure if I’m in love.”
“Oh, come on! I can see it in your face every time you look at him.”

Mom came back and Terry took the wine glasses out of my hand and walked back to the balcony. I stood in the kitchen with two beers. Mom hummed a tune. I thought about Dave. About what I had felt whenever he had been around the last two weeks.

Fuck. I was in love.
